I realize that there would still be potential privacy concerns when the card is used (after all, what good is the data if it isn't used by the medical providers). But keeping the data only on the card goes a long way towards controlling the distribution of data about me without my consent. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jerry Whelan guru@stasi.bradley.edu ------------------------------ From: kaleta Subject: Privacy Legislation status needed Date: 6 Oct 1993 23:29:33 GMT Organization: San Diego State University Computing Services Does anybody know the status of the privacy bills in the Senate (S.984) and in the House (HR.1900 103rd Congress)? Also, what are the differences between the two bills? Thanks. RSK ------------------------------ Date: 07 Oct 1993 00:30:22 -0500 (CDT) From: "M. Otto" Subject: Computer Privacy Digest (comp.society.privacy) Posting Guide I have a suggestion for an addition: Require descriptive subject lines. Many posters simply use the subject line of the last digest, and that is no help to people who need to budget their time spent reading new (like me). Thanks for listening. -- __ ____ __ otto@vaxb.acs.unt.edu /|/| / / / / / / A virtual prisoner of the VAX // I'm sorry; my karma / |. /_/ / / /_/ at The University of North Texas \X/ ran over your dogma Denton, USA [Good point. Note however, that many readers (in my experience) do not have mail software which allows them to break the digest into individual msgs. Additionally, when "reply"-ing to a msg they cannot edit the Subject: line. So, you end up stuck w/ the Digest subject line. Not great, but what can you do...
